The Prime Minister (Jacinda Adern) visits our school!

Today, at 12:30. The Prime Minister came to our school! We had prepared to meet her about the day before. When she came in, we all greeted her after doing the grace and Waiata. After we introduce ourselves and welcomed her, she introduced herself and inspired with quotes, such as "If you're ever in doubt, remember me, as she shared her story about how she was chosen to be Prime Minister. Not only this happened, but she also came to our class and served us lunch. It was awesome!

The Deca tree project (DMIC)

 

During maths today, our class was split into separate groups. I was in a group with Aye myat, Simon and Jane. We all had to figure out the "Deca Tree" problem. What we first did was figure out the equation. We wrote 10 to the power of 4 (10 x 10 x 10 x 10).  Then, we realised that there were 10,000 leaves. However, on the second part of the equation is where we started to struggle. I thought it was 9000 since I imagined that 1 branch was 1000. However, at the end, a different group was told to go up front the class and present their answer, they said that when they got to 10,000, they did -1111, which equalled 8889.

This is my quote painting, if you rotate it you'll see that is says "Life is like a glow-stick, sometimes you have to break to show you're glow" 

I decided to use this quote, since I thought it was smart or meaningful. Because of the glow-stick theme, I made my painting that one glow-stick is off, and the other is glowing and is slightly bent.

Writing Challenge, Week 2

Characters needed: Spongebob

Challenge: 6 sentences

Starting story:

Spongebob woke up to another ordinary morning, getting ready to start the day, Spongebob walked to his bathroom with Gary, his pet snail. 

As he looked into his mirror, admiring his looks, Spongebob said “don’t I just look adorable Gary?” 

Once Spongebob finished getting ready, he ran out the bathroom door and started cleaning his house, using his new broom. 

Sweeping the tops of his shelves, Spongebob came across a weird, glowing globe which Spongebob enjoyed called it “a family treasure”. 

Because of Spongebob’s lack of attention, Spongebob knocked down the Unordinary Globe with his broom and  bruised the Globe in the process.

As the Globe hit the floor, Spongbob’s house started changing its reality, the walls turning to

A weird, galactic gradient, along with gravity shifting to a lingering state. 

"About me"

Talofa Lava! My name is Austin, I am turning 12 this year and I am a year 8 at Pt England School. This year, my teachers are Mrs Stone and Mr Moran. I am fully Samoan, resembling most of my family and culture. Our topic for this year is Tiaki Taonga meaning Cherish Our Treasures.

Some of my hobbies include Programming, Art, Animation and Writing. So far, I am able to use a few coding sites, which mostly consists of an easy to use coding site called “Scratch”, which I recommend to any Programmers that are just either just beginning or even experienced. I am currently learning Minecraft modding, using a variety of different coding techniques and I’m beginning to learn Python and Java. As a result of my programming knowledge, I hope to succeed in a career which accepts my talent.

Another forte of mine is the habit of drawing. According to my parents, I’ve been self taught on how to draw and, I guess, have loved it ever since. My drawing style normally revolves around either stick figures, or fictional, three-dimensional drawings. Evolving from this is my next talent, animation.

Animation first caught my interest… Basically when I saw YouTube. There were so many animations with stick figures, objects. Even stop motion was in the mix. All this inspiration moved me to animating. You may know some of my animations like “Animation thing” or “Cave art”. Some of my more recent projects like “stick fight”. Overall, Animation is something I love and also want to work on.

I may move on from talking about writing, as this whole blog post is about “About Me” However, I may talk about it in future projects. Anyways, moving on, I also enjoy watching movies and YouTube, of course, sometimes I don’t just watch it for entertainment, but also look into the subject for learning purposes. For example I enjoy watching channels like “Kurzgesagt”, “Ted-ed” “Life noggin” etc.


Welp, this is all I want to tell you about me. A few details I didn’t exactly mention were things about my personality, however I may tell you more about myself in a separate post. Anyways, thanks for reading my “About me” project, bye!
